Ways to get involved

Dear Member,

As you may be aware, last month the Liberal Democrats were unfairly accused of attempting to remove the student council tax exemption. However, it was in fact Sheffield MP Clive Betts (Labour) who unsuccessfully tried to amend a bill in the House of Commons to remove student exemption.

Sheffield Liberal Youth are keen to set the record straight on this issue. So next Monday (23rd April) they plan to hand out flyers at Sheffield University and then march down to Clive Betts Office in the city centre. Can you join them? Find out more here.

Remember we are always keen to hear what you have been up to so if you have any campaigns that need support, get in touch with Callum and Ben, our campaigns team, at campaigns@liberalyouth.com

Social Liberal Forum Conference

Liberal Youth members have been offered an exclusive discount to attend this year’s Social Liberal Forum Conference. To access it visit socialliberal.net/slfconf/ and opt for the student ticket (£25) and then enter the promo code “LibYouth” which will reduce the ticket price to £15. The conference is to be held on Saturday 14th July and will focus on intergenerational justice, for more details visit the SLF website.

LY Elections

Finally I’d like to take this opportunity to remind you that nominations are open for this year’s Liberal Youth elections. You only have until Sunday 29th April to get nominated so if you’re thinking about running get your nomination sorted now.

I hope you’ll be able to join Liberal Youth in Sheffield.

Tom Wood
Chair of Liberal Youth

P.S. If you can’t join us in Sheffield, why not share the event with friends to see if they can?
